Peru Independence Day!!!!
Every July 28th, the declaration of its independence is celebrated in Peru, whose act was signed by its liberator Don José de San Martin on July 15th, 1821. 201 years have already been celebrated since the independence of being a Spanish colony and becoming an independent republic.
During these festivities, the streets are dressed in red and white (colours of the Peruvian flag). After two years since the Covid-19 pandemic, Peruvians will once again be able to enjoy urban dances, gastronomic fairs, serenades, concerts, live music, circus and other activities that brighten these days and bring families together.
A regular activity (July 28th) is the military parade, which is a large parade that runs through the entire Avenida Brasil (4.7km), in honour of the Peruvian Armed Forces; The Air Force, the Army, the National Police and the Peruvian Navy parade, uniformed and with all the badges, weapons and vehicles of each force.
The evenings light up in the Plaza Mayor with dances, as well as small concerts for the general public. If you are in the center of Lima, do not forget to try traditional Lima sweets such as Arroz con leche, Mazamorra morada, Picarones, Arroz Zambito, and Ranfañote among others. We cannot leave aside the rich anticuchos and a good pisco sour.
Lima dresses up for a party so visiting it on these dates is a good option to enjoy it more than usual.
